Comment to this post if you want to play, and I'll give you a letter. Then you should post five songs to your own LJ starting with that letter.
I was going to post this last night after I got back from dinner, but I went to see a movie instead! I saw The Watchmen, anyone else out there seen this yet? What did you think of it? Was it like the comics (which I have not read)? I liked it, it was dark and gritty and good, but I had a damn hard time finding a character I could really get into liking! They are all so fucked up in some way, lol.
Ok, so I got hit up by two people so far for this meme, the letter D from
winks7985 and the letter L from
siluria so I decided to combine them and do both letters here for your viewing pleasure.
And the letter D brought to us by

Out of 230+ (not counting starting with the/a) I chose 5, so hard!!!
Don't You Forget About Me by Billy Idol - classic 80s song from an awesome movie, The Breakfast Club remade by Simple Minds but I like Billy's version better. That movie is an all time fave of mine and that song never fails to remind me of it.
Don't Take Your Guns To Town by Johnny Cash - wicked cool old school country song, by the man in black himself, I love Johnny Cash he is so made of awesome sauce. The song is all about how the boy's mama warned him no guns, but he thought he knew better and took them, of course he gets outdrawn and dies. Moral: Boy, listen to your mama!
Don't Cha by the Pussycat Dolls - I know it's a mainstreamed-teeny-bopper-pop hit, but I read a fanfic where Draco Malfoy was singing this song in the great hall to Harry Potter re:Ginny Weasley, and damn wasn't that some FUNNY shit, so now that's all I think of when I hear the song and it sends me to happy hp fanfic land (funny + hot visuals).
Devil Inside by Utada Hikaru - she is such a cool j-pop artist, I discovered her music when I was searching for the theme music from the Kingdom Hearts video games (LOVE Sanctuary). This song has a cool beat and I like the lyrics about a devil inside that influences your actions.
Dance of the Cucumber by Veggie Tales: Silly Songs - I am a weirdo (I know), I LOVE the Veggie Tales Silly Songs! They are so frelling awesome. This one is sung by the cucumber, Larry, in Spanish, and the tomato, Bob, translates into English. The words are freaking funny as hell, and either make no sense or make fun of the tomato.
And the letter L brought to us by

Out of 220+ (not counting starting with the/a) I chose 5 again, too hard!!!
Lowrider by ZZ Top (or War) - This song is just so cool. It's like an anthem for half of my heritage, lol. Plus it was awesomely used in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds which was wicked cool.
Lacrymosa by Evanescence - I love the haunting melody of this song, plus the vocals are sweet. The song is one of my fave Evanescence songs, the lyrics are good and I just can't get enough of the violins and the background choir.
Les Poissons from The Little Mermaid - This song is frigging great. I love the accent and the clip from the movie, especially the little "hee hee hee, ha ha hah!" part. In college a few of us used to get together and sing Disney songs (I'm odd remember), and this was always my fave. I have the whole thing memorized, with the accent!
Leave Out All The Rest by Linkin Park - Maybe my all time fave band, I adore Linkin Park. This song is angsty yet has a good beat, and over all has a good message of trying to leave something worthy behind when you die.
Live Your Life by T.I. & Rihanna - I love T.I.'s voice, the way he raps gets me all hot. Rihanna sounds a'ight to. This song first caught my attention because it uses the "myyah-hee" youtube vid song in it,like a sample. Plus she kind of sings her verses to that music.
And you do NOT want to know how long this took me to choose just 5, or how many times I changed my friggin' mind. It was like torture I swear! heh.

Date: 2009-03-17 04:55 am (UTC)second, love allthe choices (at least the ones i know)
johnny cash... my homeboy. that man was incredibly cool.
les poissons? i actually snorted. that song reminds me of a cook i used to work with who was french. my sister one day made the connection, and every now and then she would just randomly say "zut alors, i have missed one!", much like i yell"science", and i would laugh so hard i would cry!
lowrider is war, and so awesome. my friends and i in college all had a copy of lowrider in our cars (that and the humpty dance, long story). there's nothing funnier than blaring "lowrider" while driving a salted rusted out shitbox that new england winters have claimed. so funny.
and linkin park = love
i'm gonna go figure out how to call you "california love" or "valley girl" with that lj thingy... i just can't do it right at this time. so you'll have to take a rain check of snarkyness.
:D

Date: 2009-03-19 06:19 am (UTC)I'm glad you didn't give me S ... I have so many that start with S.
Would have struggled with the S as I have spent the day struggling with ninjas.
