Writer's Block: Take Your Chances

I say a conditional yes.
In general people do deserve second chances because things change all the time, including people. A young foolish person may make mistakes, that as an older wiser adult they would not make again. Also, life circumstances change and often times those deeply effect how people behave at given times in their lives.
I say conditional because in my mind it really depends on what the chance is for and how badly they screwed the pooch the first go round. Some things you should just get one go at and if you fail, too bad there are other more important considerations than your feelings. (the mentions of things like sexual abuse and extreme violence, etc.)
So, people do deserve second chances, but I think they ought to try to earn them and be worthy of them, and that you shouldn't be stupid about what you expect them to accomplish (or fail at) the second go round.
